What’s New With GrabCAD Print: Version 1.20

By Ricky Shannon on August 28, 2018

GrabCAD Print 1.20In May 2016, Stratasys released GrabCad Print, a sophisticated 3D printing app that allows designers and engineers to prepare, schedule and monitor 3D printing jobs. Since its release, GrabCAD has continued to make exciting updates to this software; and we will be updating you every other month on its new features – July 2018 sees the launch of GrabCAD Print 1.20.

PolyJet Scheduling

Cleaning the heads of a PolyJet machine shortly after a print is completed is one of the keys to long term quality and reliability of a PolyJet machine. As a best practice, users are encouraged to schedule the start of an overnight or over weekend print so that the print is completed at a time when someone will be available to clean the heads shortly after completion. Previously, this was done by a rather convoluted process within PolyJet Studio of starting the job, then canceling it, then scheduling it. Now with GrabCAD release 1.20 – when sending a print to an idle Connex3 or J735/J750 through GrabCAD Print with no other job in the queue, the user will be prompted if they want to print immediately or schedule the print for a future time. Selection of time is even based on completion time rather than start time for easier planning. Remember though, that you will still need to hit the start button on the printer’s controller software, so the printer will be ready to accept and start the print when the appropriate time comes.

Zooming F123 Camera Images

If you are using a F123 series printer (F170/F270/F370) with GrabCAD print, you can get larger zoomed in images from the onboard camera simply by clicking on the thumbnail view within the Schedule view. This feature also works on non-camera enabled machines for seeing a larger image of the tray preview.
