In May 2016, Stratasys released GrabCad Print, a sophisticated 3D printing app that allows designers and engineers to prepare, schedule and monitor 3D printing jobs. Since its release, GrabCAD has continued to make exciting updates to this software; and I will be updating you every month on its new features – September 2017 launches GrabCAD Print 1.10.
Workbench Integration
GrabCAD Workbench offers a full set of CAD collaboration tools to ensure that engineers and partners can find the right CAD file, avoid duplicate work and get input from everyone involved. Workbench is a free, easy-to-use cloud PDM system that many start-ups and teams worldwide use to collaborate on CAD files.
Other features that workbench offers include:
- Revision management
- CAD agnostic
- File locking
- And MORE!
Email Notifications
Users can now choose to get an email whenever their job starts, finishes, pauses or hits an error. People can also choose to get those emails for every print under their corporate account, although that option is best used only by “Admins” of the account since that will be a LOT of emails. Depending on how many printers you have, this “All Jobs” option can feel like “spam”. So, I would recommend using “My Jobs Only”.
These settings are controlled through each user’s profile settings in their WEB login at www.grabCAD.com:
GCP .print File Association
Users can now simply double click on saved projects with the .print extension (like the one below), and it will automatically open in GrabCAD Print. Time-saving tricks like this make the user experience that much better.
Objet1000 Support:
GrabCAD Print will now support Objet 1000 printers. With greater stability, the ability to open much larger files (up to 750 Mb) is easier to use than before. *Note: You will still need to download the PolyJet Job Manager to work with PolyJet machines.
