Is 3DEXPERIENCE a Good Fit For My Business?

By Matt Kokowski on May 18, 2022

I’m often asked whether 3DEXPERIENCE is a good fit for a business in one fashion or another. The following points can help answer this question.

Cloud Initiatives

Reducing onsite IT infrastructure has multiple benefits and is a big benefit to many organizations. First, it allows for the reduction of local and onsite IT infrastructure. Project data and assets such as SOLIDWORKS files, office documents, PDFs, can all be stored in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. The CAD data is the backbone on which the platform operates, so everything can be connected to the design data. There isn’t a cloud server to maintain with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. All server upgrades are handled by Dassault Systèmes.

Second, it allows for users to efficiently work remotely. Design teams can be spread out and still connect to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to work on the project and collaborate with teamates. In many cases, companies have found that they can be more productive when people are given the option to work remotely.. With the data in the cloud, a user can simply connect to the internet and begin working.CollaborativeDesignerforSolidwork2

Communication is one area where there is room for continuous improvement. 3DEXPERIENCE enables teams stay in touch with each other while working remotely. There are communities within the platform which operate like digital project books – storing all the relevant information about a project. Engineering changes can be tracked with full traceability of what happened and who approved the changes. Data can also be shared with outside vendors allowing them to redline and markup designs if changes are necessary. It can also track conversations about a single file. Typically, conversations have been done through email but storing the conversations digitally in the platform allows users to access the information from anywhere, even if they weren’t included in the email string.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform isn’t just a data management system. It’s also a business development platform. There are tools to aid in all aspects of simulation, manufacturing, analysis, sales and marketing. Just a few of the exciting opportunities for growth are in simulation and manufacturing. Robotics and automation are big in manufacturing these days, and the platform offers tools to assist in programming robots and laying out production lines. Being able to plan a line ahead of time and more efficiently in the development process can save headaches and changes late in the process when they are exponentially more difficult. The simulation tools are also world class. Some of the electromagnetic analysis tools will allow users to accurately place the electronic components that exist in almost every design today.

The 3DEXPERIENCE is a good fit for anyone looking to empower their designers by allowing them to access their data from anywhere, improve design communication, and prepare for future growth. There are many more benefits to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, so continually check back for additional tools and information.
