Create a Local View in SOLIDWORKS PDM

By steven schaeffer on July 6, 2017

Wondering how to create a local view in SOLIDWORKS PDM? Watch this short Video Tech Tip for step-by-step instructions.

Once you have downloaded SOLIDWORKS PDM, launch the Administration Tool and select your server name. At this time, you will also be asked to authenticate against the server.

After logging in, you will have access to all of the vaults on that server. To create a local view so you can work directly in a certain vault, it’s as easy as selecting a vault, right clicking and selecting “Create local view…” and re-entering your credentials. While doing so, we recommend saving your local vault view on “Local Disk (C:)” and making the file vault view accessible for all users on the computer. Once your view opens make sure your view type is set to “Details” so you can see your column headers.
